Tony Trischka and Bruce Molsky
Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York, York PA

Sponsored by the Susquehanna Folk Music Society http://www.sfmsfolk.org/concerts/Trischka_Molsky.html

This double-bill features two master musicians at the top of their craft: honoring their roots while creating innovative new traditions.
In a career that has now encompassed four decades, acclaimed banjo innovator Tony Trischka has created an endless array of new possibilities for the five-string banjo. While he has mastered nearly every element of the instrument’s stylistic history — from old-time modal clawhammer to the most intricate melodic modern styles — it was folk music initially, and bluegrass music in particular, that first drew him to the banjo.
Bruce Molsky stands today as the world’s premier old-time fiddler and one of the defining virtuosos of Appalachia’s timeless folk music traditions. In addition to a prolific solo career, performing on fiddle, guitar, and banjo, Molsky frequently joins genre-busting super-groups and artists such as the Fiddlers Four, Mozaik, Nikola Parov, and Donal Lunny.

By & By - Bluegrass Barn Concert Series
Frying Pan Farm Park – Bluegrass Barn Concert Series, Herndon VA

Doors open at 6pm and showtime is at 7pm. General Admission.

By & By brings their ‘impressive vocals, smooth-as-honey string playing and arms-wide-open stage engergy’ (DC Music Download) to bluegrass from Bill Monroe to Nickel Creek. Their original songs reflect on the band’s surroundings, pulling from the fast-pasced, dymanic and engaged culture of Washington DC. Their music has roots that dig through the traditions of bluegrass, folk, Americana and rock-n-roll to create a sound uniquely theirs. Their first album, Get It While You Can, received seven nominations for Washington Area Music Association awards.

Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door.

Buy tickets on line at: http://parktakes.fairfaxcounty.gov/rev1_coursedetail.asp?category2=9999&subject=bluegrass%2D&facility2=9999&age=9999&day=9999&Submit2=Search&LOC=M282&TRM=17FA&CDE=2824994201
