The Mike Auldridge Instrumental Composition Contest honors the life and musicianship of one of America’s greatest bluegrass players.
Entries must be entered between August 18, 2024 and October 14, 2024.
On the 3rd Sunday of each month from 5-7 pm, the DC Bluegrass Union will host our Old School Open Mic (OSOM) at Lucketts Community Center, 42361 Lucketts Road, Leesburg, VA. On September 15, Serene Green members, Michael Johnson & Quentin “Q” Fisher will be available for accompaniment. **SIGN UP UPON ARRIVAL**
One important aspect of DCBU’s mission is to promote music education. We offer an instructor directory so students can locate teachers in their local area for in-person instruction. Additionally, since so many great musicians teach online classes, we’re now posting information for instructors wherever they are located. Greetings fellow pickers! I’ve been working to get another jam set up for folks who live a little further west of DC and I’m proud to announce our first jam will take place on Tuesday May 21st from 8PM – 10PM at PJ SKidoos in Fairfax. Currently this jam will be held EVERY THIRD TUESDAY to offset the Port City Brewery jam and the other jams around the area.

Open Bluegrass jam. All levels (multiple circles). The Farm Brewery at Broad Run is on a spacious, well laid out, farm with food and beverages available. The jam is held on the SECOND and FOURTH Thursdays. There is ample parking and a friendly staff. The Farm Brewery closes at 9:00 PM, hence, jam hours are 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
