The Mike Auldridge Instrumental Composition Contest honors the life and musicianship of one of America’s greatest bluegrass players.
Entries must be entered between August 18, 2024 and October 14, 2024.
On the 3rd Sunday of each month from 5-7 pm, the DC Bluegrass Union will host our Old School Open Mic (OSOM) at Lucketts Community Center, 42361 Lucketts Road, Leesburg, VA. On September 15, Serene Green members, Michael Johnson & Quentin “Q” Fisher will be available for accompaniment. **SIGN UP UPON ARRIVAL**
One important aspect of DCBU’s mission is to promote music education. We offer an instructor directory so students can locate teachers in their local area for in-person instruction. Additionally, since so many great musicians teach online classes, we’re now posting information for instructors wherever they are located. The Capital Area Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Association (CABOMA) sponsors a jam each second and fourth Sunday of the month, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, 4444 Arlington Blvd., Arlington, VA 22204.
Musicians of all levels are encouraged to take part, and the first hour includes a slow jam in one of our three available rooms. Nonmembers are welcome to try us for a few sessions before being asked to join.
Enter the church at the top level. The jam is downstairs in the chapel and rooms 13/15 (library) and 14.
