DC-based vocalist and songwriter Cecily is known for her agile soprano voice and honest lyrics. Her sound, as soothing as it is rich, is rooted in a deep appreciation for mid-century soul and jazz, 90s R&B, and reimagined folk music. Her reflective lyrics grapple with self-acceptance, vulnerability, and rebirth.
Previous releases from Cecily include her debut Songs of Love and Freedom and 2019’s Awakening Pt. I, both of which received Wammie Awards and high praise from multiple publications. The highly anticipated follow-up to her sophomore album, Awakening Pt. II, weaves her life experiences with inspiration from bell hooks’ Black feminist manifesto All About Love.
